Now in it’s eleventh year, 2017’s Global Zoom was hosted in the beautiful city of Barcelona. The competition, run by hair giants Goldwell and KMS, consisted of 97 national finalists from 38 countries, and we were proud to be following this year’s UK Finalists Lydia Wolfe from Tony Wood Hairdressing, Caroline Brand from Oracle Hair & Beauty and Nick Holmes from Hobson & Holmes. Capturing the finalists along with all of the UK guests, our team edited on-site so that viewers around the world were kept up to date via social media on their journey throughout the event.
Kickstarting the weekend, the UK guests met for drinks on the rooftop bar of the Catalonia Plaza Hotel, and with beautiful views of the city, we began interviewing the finalists on how they were feeling ahead of the competition the next day. Fast-forward nine hours, and we were back with the trio prepping their models, ready to compete in the categories of New Talent, Creative Colorist and Partner Categories. Lydia, Nick and Caroline then had just three hours to recreate their winning looks inspired by the In·Flux Collection. In addition to the international judges, the UK was represented by Errol Douglas and Natalie Cara-Jones (2015 Gold Winner in the New Talent Category). With the votes in, the evening then began with a parade of nations before the audience were treated to a spectacular unveiling of the Color Zoom 2018 collection – Elemental. Global Creative Director, John Moroney announced the winners; with Lydia Wolfe winning the Global Stylist Favorite Award and Caroline Brand taking Bronze in the Creative Category.
Ciara Lynch, Digital Marketing Manager – KAO Salon Division said “Global Zoom is one of our largest events of the year and with Color Zoom having such a big online audience, we love to be able to update our followers with information as quick as we can. So having the CS Media team along side us was key to achieving this. Whilst half the team were filming and photographing, the other half were editing and drip feeding us content to update our various online platforms. Over the 3 days our photos reached 16,000 people, and our videos were viewed over 30,000 times. In 2018, we’re heading out to the beautiful city of Toronto and cannot wait to see what the CS Media team will create for us.”
